New York Giants Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie hosted a pre-holiday dinner for more than 20 students at P.S. 15 as he kicked off the third year of his Dreambuilders “food for kids” initiative.

“I loved spending some time with the kids at P.S. 15, talking about good health and anything else they want to talk about, while we enjoyed some good food together before the holidays,” Rodgers-Cromartie said. “I am grateful for the opportunity to help make a difference in the lives of these young people and those who are helped by our efforts to provide food to children in need.”

Rodgers-Cromartie Dreambuilders initiative, presented by UnitedHealthcare, provides more than 250 children at P.S. 15 in Manhattan and P.S. 502 and 102 in Brooklyn with backpacks of food every weekend during the 2016-2017 school year through Blessings in a Backpack.

From 2011 to 2013, nearly 500,000  – or one in four – children in New York City lived in households that did not have an adequate food supply, according to a 2014 study by the New York City Coalition Against Hunger.
