Packers star receiver Randall Cobb operates a multi-tiered program in Green Bay that positively impacts the lives of some of the city’s most disadvantaged children in a variety of ways. In addition to supplying kids in need with food to take home on the weekends, Randall’s Dreambuilders program is also working with selected schools in Green Bay to provide these same kids with access to an after-school program featuring martial arts.
Altogether, Randall’s program paid out $40,000 to charitable programs in 2015, and it is poised for an even bigger year in 2016!
The funds raised at Randall’s third annual Helping Hands Dinner last June, as well as through his Papa John’s promotion during the last football season, have funded the Blessings in a Backpack program for 300 kids at four different schools in Green Bay, as well as the after-school program. The program works with Blessings in a Backpack to distribute sacks full of healthy snacks for low-income children to take home over the weekend. The program works hand-in-hand with the greater Green Bay YMCA to identify and serve children most in need of the nourishment the sacks provide.
The sacks are filled with ready-to-eat foods like cereal, power bars, crackers, peanut butter and more, as well as drinks like bottled water and 100% juice boxes. The sacks also include perishable items like fruits which can last the course of a weekend. Kids who receive the sacks provided in this program demonstrate better health, energy, behavior and awareness.
Through this program, Randall Cobb has established himself as one of Green Bay’s most philanthropic individuals, and as someone dedicated to improving the lives of less fortunate children everywhere.
